Iron Stain Treat

Do not add this product directly to an oxidizer (such as chlorine, bromine, non-chlorine shock, hydrogen peroxide, etc.). Add directly to the pool/spa or a clean bucket of water.

For color finishes: test in an inconspicuous area to assess color fastness by allowing the chemical to sit on the surface for 1 minute before brushing it away.

1. For best results, prepare the pool in the following manner:
1.1 Wait for the water temperature to reach 60°F or higher.
1.2 Turn off the pump and system.
1.3 Lower the chlorine level to below one (1) ppm - the lower the better - by either abstaining from adding chlorine or using a chlorine neutralizer, such as No Mor Chlor™ or an equivalent product. You may use Poly60 Treat™ or an equivalent algicide to prevent algae during stain treatment.
1.4 Lower the pH to 7.2 and the Total Alkalinity to 80 ppm or below by using a pH and Alkalinity decreaser, such as No Mor Muriatic Acid™ or a conventional liquid acid. If you need to lower only the alkalinity, you can use Easy Alkalinity Down™ or an equivalent dry acid.
2. Add 1 lb of Iron Stain Treat™ per 10,000 gallons in the following manner:
2.1 For isolated stains where color fastness is not a concern: add the product directly onto the stain.
2.2 For pools where color fastness is a concern, or for areas with widespread staining: dissolve Iron Stain Treat™ in a clean bucket of water before pouring it evenly around the perimeter of the pool. Some clouding is normal and will subside in 24 hours.
3. Wait 12-24 hours for results. Repeat the application until all stains have been removed.
4. Rebalance the pool in the following manner:
4.1 Raise the pH using Easy pH Up™ or Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda). Soda Ash is not recommended as it may lead to stains reforming.
4.2 Raise the chlorine reading slowly, avoiding increases of more than 5 ppm per dose per day. Larger doses may cause staining to reform.
5. Use a stain preventative such as No Mor Stains & Scale™ weekly to keep the pool free of stains.
